The Bella Coola Community Support Society offers alcohol
and drug addiction related programs.
Counselling
Addictions counselling is for children, youth, adults, and families who have concerns about their own or someone else’s use of substances/chemicals, or behaviours (codependency, etc). Counselling is also available for those who grew up in addicted families. The service is voluntary, free of charge for client, and confidential.
The program helps clients develop personal treatment goals that can lead to lasting change and a healthy, balanced life. Clients are helped to gain insight into the patterns, behaviors, and emotional responses associated with addiction. With this insight, clients can begin to develop new, healthy responses.
The alcohol and drug counsellor can refer individuals and families to residential treatment centers (may involve some cost to the client), supportive recovery facilities, support groups such as A.A. and CoDA, and other community resources.
Referrals can be accepted from individuals, families, friends, doctors, and community agencies. contact us for more information.
Prevention
Program staff work with the community and schools to raise awareness of drug and alcohol issues, and to explore creative local alternatives to substance misuse.
