About Us
The Bella Coola Community Support Society is a non-profit society and registered charity offering a range of services to the people of the Bella Coola Valley and, to a limited extent, Anahim Lake.
The Community Support Society began in 1983 as the Bella Coola Neighborhood House when a group of people from the Nuxalk Nation and the wider non-Aboriginal community came together over common concerns about the high rates of substance misuse, family violence and youth suicide. In the 20 plus years since its inception, the Society has grown into a multi-service agency offering a range of services to the whole community.
Funding for our programs comes through the Ministry of Children and Family Development; the Ministry of Housing and Social Development; the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General; the Bella Coola General Hospital and private and philanthropic donations.
